Croatia’s superyacht industry is booming. Over the last four years, the local shipyards have produced over 10 brand new motor sailers (Aurum Sky, Lady Gita, Love Story, Dalmatino, Rara Avis, Acapella, Life is Good, Navilux, Aiaxaia, Son De Mar, Corsario) ranging from 45 to 49 meters.  It seems the country is setting up a new affordable luxury yachting that is doing rather well and attracting a lot of interest.

If you consider the superyacht market in the Med, a week charter on a 50m yacht will cost between 200,000 to 250,000 Euro per week. In Croatia, a week on a 50m yacht will cost you around 100,000 Euro per week. You might even get a bigger party in Croatia as most of these newly built yachts accommodate 12 guests in 6 staterooms (some accommodate up to 14 guests), whereas the superyachts in the Med can accommodate maximum 10 guests. And it is not only about the ‘affordable luxury yachting’ but it seems the superyachts in Croatia offer more value for money. You get more space, for example a brand new Acapella offers 3 master cabins and 2 VIP (three master cabins are very rare on the superyachts), the APA is normally around 30% on the charters in the Med, in Croatia this is often in the range of 20% to 25%. The food in Croatia is much cheaper, especially the fresh fish from the Adriatic (the lobster costs around 100 Euro in Croatia, whereas in the rest of Med, this might be between 350 to 450 Euro). The port taxes are also much cheaper in Croatia than in the rest of Med, on average you pay around 700 to 1,000 Euro per day in comparison to 3,000 to 5,000 Euro in the Med. Lastly, we have very often seen a discrepancy between the prices and the facilities offered on some of the superyachts available for charter in the Med. For example, a yacht that is priced at 220,000 Euro per week does not have its own large tender, but the guests are taken on shore in a 5m dinghy. To use Acapella as an example, she has a 11m tender with an en-suite. It is a no brainer. We expect this trend to continue in the future. As we type, there is another 49m luxury motor sailer than has been launched called Anima Maris that is welcoming the first guests early July.
