Dubbed as the Croatian 'Perini Navi', Acapella is the very first 49m sailing superyacht built in a small shipyard on Korcula island. Korcula used to be the centre of Croatian shipbuilding industry but declined over the years. Constructing Acapella is a story rooted in passion, dedication and a remarkable human achievement. Niksa, a young talented Captain made his name with Andjeo, a 27m luxury ketch that he helmed for 17 years before embarking onto constructing Acapella. Upon our last summer visit to the abandoned shipyard on Korcula (that Niksa single-handedly re-opened to build Acapella) to check the progress of the construction, we were amazed with the size of the project that was mainly handled by Niksa, his brother and his father. A truly remarkable story of a family with over 100 years of shipbuilding tradition.
Acapella belongs to a new breed of yachts that are increasingly applying the modern technology to the navigation as well as for the rigging. She carries a selection of electrically operated sails and can reach 15 knots, for a nearly 50m yacht this is quite impressive. For comparison purposes, Perini Navi's Maltese Falcon reached 16 knots on her first trial.
Acapella is also located in the right cruising ground where the light winds of Maestral provide perfect conditions for her to show her capabilities. Her sublime performance is matched with an equally attractive interior. A calming palette of natural tones meets contemporary design and creates a harmonious sense of comfort and style. Her five extremely spacious staterooms are beautifully designed and completed with luxurious touches. The deck areas follow the same concept and offer a perfect environment for socialising, al fresco dining and enjoying the life under the sails.
Acapella would not be complete without Niksa and his brother who are both onboard aided by 7 crew. An utterly unique chef with an incredible palate, background and a deep understanding of international cuisines so easily adapts to any dietary preferences be they kosher, vegan, vegetarian or whatever your heart desires. A renowned wine sommelier from London's private wine club is responsible for the wine list and spirits served on board (exclusive to Sail Dalmatia clients).
Based in Dubrovnik.
