Zinfandel grape originates from Croatia, where it is known as Crljenak Kastelanski. It is mainly grown on Peljesac peninsula. How Zinfandel reached USA? Well, Robert Benmosche, an American retired in Croatia in 2006 wanting to be a winemaker. He was so impressed with Peljesac region that he bought land on Peljesac and planted Plavac Mali that gives the best results on Peljesac.  At the time he was investing in vineyards, they found out that Zinfandel is genetically the same as Crljenak Kaštelanski. Today, Zinfandel is quite popular in the USA and a rumour has it, the Croatian origin Zinfandel will be served at Biden's inauguration.
