It gives us an absolute pleasure to introduce you to this young gentleman with an excpetional cooking talent. He is Nemanja Savic, a raising star in the Eastern Adriatic. We spent some time with him before his preparations for the summer season on the Life is Good.

Tell us why you love to cook?
For me, cooking is an art, it involves a process of creating something out of raw materials. I find this process fascinating, it can take you to many different paths and you can experiement a lot. Food world knows no boundaries, it really gives you a lot of freedoom to experiment.

What was the deciding moment for you to consider cooking as your career?
I was 16 and I was attending a Hospitality Industry high school. One of the subject was cooking and we had a large kitchen at the school where we could practice and pretty much invent our meals. We were encouraged to develop our own style, I found this process very creative and 'liberating.  I was immediately hooked.

What dishes are you most proud of?
I have a few dishes that are very close to my heart but one that my clients rave about is the Beef Wellington. It is one of 'tricky' dishes that really requires patience and mastery to do it right. Also, I love any fish dishes from 'cerviche' to the Adriatic tuna steak.

Where do you draw your inspiration from?
We take food for granted and we rarely think about how sacred the food is. For me this is the connection, I love feeding people and surprising them with tasty dishes, but it is almost a sacred act for me. As a chef, I also prefer working in a well equipped kitchen with a great team, you need good conditions to achieve a great result.

What are your favourite ingedients?
When it comes to choosing ingredients, I always go for indigenous seasonal local produce. For me the freshness is the deciding elements in the food quality and here I do not make any compormises. I am also very keen on promoting the use of local and seasonal produce. We really need to think about the impacts we create on the enviorment, French, for example prefer buying the local produce and want to support the local growers, butchers etc. we need to follow the same way.

Thank you Nemanja, we look forward to seeing you onbaord Life is Good this summer.
