Dubrovnik has always been a hot spot for superyachts but this summer Dubrovnik seems to be still holding on quite well despite the global pandemic. It reminds me on the post war years when Dubrovnik had emerged as a tourist destination for the first time, only a few knew about Dubrovnik and wanted to visit the Old Town. It feels almost the same, the streets of Dubrovnik are empty, only a few tourists are venturing the streets of the Old Town. Over the last few years Dubrovnik reached a boiling point, the Old Town was packed with tourists to the point that we had to have police officers regulating the flow in the Old Town, it was not pleasant any more, all tiny shops like bakeries moved out from the Old Town and you had to travel 2km outside of the city to buy groceries, the Old Town became to commercial. Today, you walk down the Stradun, empty streets, some bars are closed, a few staff are standing in front of an empty restaurant. It is a totally different world, a peaceful world without rush and stress, as if the time stopped existing in Dubrovnik and the Old Town is returned to the locals again.
