YACHT SEARCH

We had an opportunity to chat with Tom Robbins, the travel editor of the Financial Times about the trends in 2021.

Despite having been a rather quiet year, 2020 has brought with it an  interest in yacht charters from people who would normally seek their thrills elsewhere. "We're definitely seeing an uptick in people wanting to do something different because they have been confined to 4 walls for too long' says Dora Vulic. Rather than falling into the standard routine of  booking a five-star hotel and exploring the same sights and attractions as others, chartering a yacht offers a chance to escape these four walls, and wake up to a new scenery every day. The unique aspects to yachting is its 'natural isolation and self-sufficiency'. You can isolate to a certain degree and create your own 'bubble' and you are not confined to one location but you can move around safely. The yachts are also self -sufficient and offer superb accommodation, catering and entertainment. All this has prompted a number of clients to charter yachts who have never chartered before.

We have seen some of the trends emerging from 2020 as well:

*    Trend down to a single-family boat
*    Taking elderly parents on a yacht as a lockdown escape. We expect this trend to continue into 2021
*    Multiple weeks charter i.e. yacht charters up to 4 weeks
*    Office work from a yacht, WIFI and office equipment was high in demand

There is a good reason to believe that the yacht market will rebound in 2021, reservations for 2021 are looking positive, with safety, isolation and wanting to experience something new, all playing a major role in making yacht charters an attractive holiday option.
