Lastovo is the island that is the least known of all the islands in the Adriatic. Remote, distant and enigmatic, the island has always been separate from the rest of Adriatic islands. Even a small population of 700 people is different from the rest of the South Adriatic. Here people are accustomed to a different way of life. The connection with the world is via a ferry that arrives once a day bringing the necessary goods and groceries. Most people live in the middle of the island, in a place called Lastovo selo. The biggest attraction in the village are Fumari - Lastovo chimneys which in the past were a symbol of wealth. It was known exactly from the chimney how rich the family was and what class they were. Today there are no social classes on the island, everyone lives more or less equally from tourism. This season was quiet but the locals do not mind a lot. They say it helped them staying away from Corona. The island has reported no Corona cases since the outbreak. The locals say no one from the island left the island and no visitors arrived on the island, except a few with yachts that would moor around the island, with a few making a way to two outdoor seating restaurants. Let's hope the island maintaines its Corona free status.
